Individual Therapy

I focus on working with adults, teens, and children who are navigating anxiety, depression, anger, or relationship issues. We begin to explore and understand the nature of these emotions and how they are impacting you specifically. We will then find ways to effectively cope with them, to regain true control, leading to improved emotional, relational, and occupational wellness. This involves interrupting rumination and overthinking, calming powerful emotions by finding more balanced ways to perceive and think, building skills in mindful awareness, and increasing motivation to try new things to get better results. My practice utilizes an approach rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness Based interventions to achieve the above results. When working with an adolescent, Motivational Interviewing is also at the heart of treatment.

Family Therapy

There is no love or bond stronger than with family members. This intensity is also why they can be so difficult to navigate, particularly during times of heightened stress. I use an approach based in Structural Family therapy, which aims to identify and improve patterns of interaction between family members that are making family life difficult. We will open lines of respectful communication while establishing healthy boundaries and limits. We will re-write the invisible rules about how your family is organized and communicates. Your family will find a collective relief in working toward a common goal that benefits everyone, with adults at the top of the family hierarchy and in a position of leadership and power. When people have accurate information about how family members feel and what their drives are, the love inherent in family relationships can more easily shine through. When parents feel as though they have true control over themselves, they are most effective with their children.

Parent Support

Parenting can be one of the most challenging, yet rewarding experiences of our lives. Sometimes, parents need ideas, techniques, and guidance to begin to quickly address behavioral challenges, rules and boundary issues, and emotional struggles that children may have. As parents, at times we feel helpless and witnessing a child suffer can be devastating and overwhelming. Parent coaching sessions are offered to address these issues as well.

Consultation/Collaboration

Often, it is not only the youth, but the professional adults around them who benefit from support and clarity. In fact, whole systems can benefit from increased cooperation between adults and providers. I can collaborate with school staff and other providers to ensure they have an accurate picture of your child’s unique strengths and difficulties, while finding ways to effectively support them in the school setting. Children benefit most when the adults in their lives are on the same page.
